Overview

We do not share your data with anyone. Your trip data is private by default.

RideSlug records GPS location and accelerometer data during your rides. This data is stored on our servers so you can access your trips later. We do not sell, share, or provide your data to any third parties, advertisers, or analytics services.

If you want to share a trip with friends or family, you can send them a unique link. Only people you share this link with can view that specific trip.

Information We Collect

When you use RideSlug, we collect the following information:

• Location Data: GPS coordinates are collected while you are actively recording a trip. This data is used to track your route and calculate speed and distance.
• Accelerometer Data: Motion sensor data (acceleration values) is collected during trip recording to detect road conditions, bumps, and braking events.
• Event Markers: Any comments or markers you add during a trip are stored with your trip data.
• Username: If you optionally provide a name in settings, it is stored locally on your device and included with your trip data.
• Device Identifier: A randomly generated client ID is stored locally to associate your trips with your device.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to:

• Display your route on a map during and after your trip
• Calculate and display speed, distance, and elapsed time
• Store your trip data so you can review it later
• Generate shareable links so you can share your trips with others

Data Storage and Sharing

• Server Storage: Trip data is stored on our servers so that trips can be accessed via shareable URLs. Each trip is assigned a unique session ID.
• Local Storage: Settings (such as your username, quick phrases, and tile server preferences) are stored locally on your device using browser local storage.
• Sharing: Trips are only accessible to those who have the unique trip URL. We do not publicly list or index trip data. If you share a trip URL, anyone with that URL can view the trip.
• Third Parties: We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal information to third parties. Map tiles are loaded from third-party providers (OpenStreetMap or Google Maps) based on your settings.

Data Retention

Trip data is retained on our servers indefinitely unless you request deletion. You may request deletion of your trip data by contacting us at the email address below.

Your Choices

• Location Permission: You can deny or revoke location permission at any time through your device settings. The app requires location access to function.
• Motion Permission: On iOS, you may be prompted to allow motion and fitness data access. You can deny this permission, though accelerometer logging will not function.
• Recording: Location and accelerometer data are only collected when you actively start a recording session. No data is collected when you are not recording.
• Username: Providing a username is optional.

Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data during transmission and storage. Trip data is transmitted over HTTPS. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Children's Privacy

RideSlug is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
